Shaldon is a village in Devon, England, situated on the mouth of the River Teign, where the river meets the English Channel. It is a popular tourist spot due to its stunning coastal scenery, friendly locals and abundance of activities.

The village is one of the oldest in South Devon, with evidence of settlement dating back to the Iron Age. In the 16th century, the area was occupied by the Courtenay family and the remains of their castle can still be seen today. The village is also home to a number of historical buildings, including the Grade I listed Church of St Peter, which dates back to the 13th century.

Shaldon is well known for its sandy beaches, with the main beach at Ness Cove being the most popular. The area is also home to a number of other beaches, including Jacobs Ladder, which is a great spot for rockpooling. The Teign Estuary is a great spot for birdwatching and fishing, with plenty of crabs, mackerel and conger eels to be found.

The village has a number of pubs, cafes and restaurants for visitors to enjoy, as well as a variety of shops and galleries. There are several events and festivals held in the village throughout the year, such as the annual Shaldon Regatta in August.

The area is also well known for its water sports, with kayaking, kitesurfing, paddleboarding and sailing all popular activities. There are a number of companies offering lessons and equipment hire, so even if you're a beginner, you'll be able to enjoy the water.

The nearby Shaldon Wildlife Trust is a great spot for wildlife and nature lovers, with a number of nature walks and trails to explore. The trust also runs educational programmes and activities throughout the year, as well as a number of events such as bat walks and bird watching.
